Gynaecomastia
About Gynaecomastia
Gynaecomastia is the benign enlargement of male breast tissue, often caused by hormonal imbalance, certain medications, or genetics. It can present during adolescence or adulthood and may affect one or both breasts. The condition can lead to discomfort, body-image concerns, and self-consciousness, particularly in social or athletic settings.
Surgical treatment for gynaecomastia involves removing excess breast gland tissue and/or fat to restore a flatter, more masculine chest contour. This may be achieved through liposuction, excision, or a combination of both, depending on the tissue composition. Incisions are placed strategically to minimise scarring, often hidden around the areola or in natural skin folds. Recovery is typically quick, and results are long-lasting. The procedure can have a profound impact on confidence, physical comfort, and overall body image.
